I've had this blog for about a year now and I haven't written one single post. I always tell myself that as soon as I get a second I'll write something meaningful and thought provoking and, of course, stylish. But then, life gets in the way and I never have a second or I'm super busy or I have a week like this one where I have meetings everyday of the week after my full-time job and then I have personal matters to deal with after those meetings are over, and then I never write.
Truthfully, there's no excuse not to write. I downloaded the Blogger app on my phone months ago and I think this may be the first time I've ever opened it.
So what finally inspired me to write? As with most things in life, or at least my life, things, the important things, tend to find their way into my life without me ever having gone looking for them. Fashion has always been an important part of my life to the point that prior to beginning my current career in the legal field, I thought of a career in fashion. I managed a clothing store for a number of years, but decided to put my college degree in business to work in a different way. I took one class in fashion and one class in legal studies and decided this one semester would decide my fate. One way or another, I'd determine where I was going in my life. Needless to say, legal studies won and I became a paralegal.
I still loved fashion, but I thought maybe it was more if a hobby than a career. I still loved being a stylist and producing fashion shows and being a general style icon, but I didn't enjoy sitting in the classroom learning about it, especially from someone that I thought lacked style and creativity.
So here I am. Still a paralegal, still passionate about fashion. Still trying to find ways to fit it into my life where I can, and still always feeling like I'm missing something.
This past Sunday I modeled in a fashion show for the Junior League of Atlanta's Nearly New Shop, a thrift store that supports the nonprofit organization. While there, I realized how much I missed putting things together and feeling the excitement of a show and final looks and the runway!! It was pretty awesome. There were also fashion bloggers there who were living their lives, doing whatever they do, but still managed to find a way to fit fashion in their daily routine, in a way that was meaningful to them. I felt like I deserved the same thing and of course, to me, that meant I needed to write.
So at this moment, Wednesday night, as I ride with my boyfriend to pick up his mobile home for our trip out of town Friday, I finally found the time to write. It being my first post ever, to me it was definitely meaningful. I don't know if you found it thought provoking, but provoking thoughts certainly led me to write it, and for the sake of style, I'll post some pictures from Sunday's show. :-). Thanks for reading
P. S. The kids are my nieces and nephew.
